The Ingane Yami School children had the best time at their Sports day on Saturday, 20 August.
We mixed it up this year, and instead of just the standard handful of races and field events, our teachers created a fun and interactive Olympic inspired rotation of events that had the kids involved in everything from water-gun shooting, to clothes pegging, basketball, rugby kicks, shot put, long jump, hurtles, and even balancing a bucket of water on their heads! The kids got to do every station, and had their points tallied along the way, which ultimately went towards their houses combined score.
This wouldn’t have been possible without the 13 St Mary’s girls who came to run a station, and the ever-faithful team from Justin Bircher and Associates Biokineticists.
All of our child sponsors were invited to come watch and cheer-on the kids, which really made the kids perform that much harder!
In the end the Eagles took home the winning trophy!! As well as each child being recognized for their individual achievements (races won, or furthest jump) with fun fizzer and bar-one medals! It was definitely a morning for our kids to remember.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in volunteering and supporting for the morning, as well as SUPERSPAR Richdens for the delicious platters, and Curro High School for so graciously lending us their podium, high jump and other Sports Day equipment.
