Running for Our Kids

Comrades 2

“The ultimate human race”; where the power of the human mind and body are tested to the ultimate limit: muscles aching, knee’s pounding, sweat pouring, each individual overcoming unimaginable obstacles to achieve what only a tiny percentage of the population ever will.

And what better way to honor the human spirit then to run on behalf of someone else: Shaun Simpson did exactly that—running on behalf of the children and moms at Ingane Yami.

As Shaun was in the UK (up until 2 days before Comrades) his sister, Kerry and good friend Paul took on the task of getting everything ready. We got to meet them at the Village and got the kids involved in decorating Shaun’s superhero Cape, which everyone loved!

The Comrades Sunday was a BLAST! All our older kid were able to join Kerry, Paul and the wider support team to cheer for the runners, and particularly Shaun as he “soared” by! Shaun ran like an absolute machine and smashed the race in an incredible 7hr53!!

The kids were on a high the entire day, enjoying bacon and egg rolls and cheering everyone on.
They were just as excited 2 days alter when Shaun popped in to say hello—and share stories from his Comrades journey.

As a member of a dynamic international corporate team, he challenged all of his colleagues to get behind his efforts, which they did, in an overwhelming way! Raising a incredible ZAR 1 Million for our mom and kids!

We are BLOWN AWAY by this achievement! And truly inspired by what a group of determined, generous, selfless humans are able to achieve!
